She talks mainly about what she does in her job helping young people at-risk who live in underserved communities, and also shares what she's learned in her job between helping youth and also making a difference in the community.
Mental Health Counselors counsel with emphasis on prevention, and work with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental and emotional health. They may help individuals deal with issues associated with addictions and substance abuse; family, parenting, and marital problems; stress management; self-esteem; and aging.
Mental Health Counselors must be licensed. Licensure requires a master’s degree and 2 years of supervised clinical experience. They must pass a state-recognized exam and complete annual continuing education classes.
