Lauren, a sales associate for a fair trade boutique, describes the challenges of her job, what she likes most, her key decisions, how to get into the industry, and work-life balance. Though retail is a very accessible industry to get into, unfortunately the same cannot be said for fair trade. Fair trade is a limited industry because it isn't very profitable, so it should be something to go for if you are passionate about it.
Retail sales workers include both those who sell retail merchandise and products, such as clothing, furniture, and automobiles, (called retail salespersons) and those who sell spare and replacement parts and equipment, especially car parts, (called parts salespersons). Both groups help customers find the products they want and process customers' payments.
Moderate on-the-job training can be expected.
