On Monday, I was in Denver, Colorado demonstrating the machine for coffee roasters. The week before, I was in Tokyo, Japan giving a talk about connected devices. Now I'm working on some materials for investors. So every day, not quite sure what to expect but make a plan and do your best to do what your plan says. So I graduated high school and I went on to study mechanical engineering, which I studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. And while I was at MIT, I did a number of internships at various engineering companies. Most notably, I worked in Germany at BMW. I worked at Tesla Motors as an intern during their IPO. My final internship was at Apple Computer working on iPad. And in all of these work experiences, I was working as a mechanical engineer, oftentimes as a design engineer. And they taught me a lot about how to design things. I think the most important lesson I've had along this path is that there is nobody else who knows more than you do. Some people might have information that you don't, but the people out there who are designing iPads and Tesla Model S's and BMWs, they're great people, they're hardworking people and they have fantastic teams and resources behind them, but they're still people. They're people just like you and me. And I think once you realize that, it's kind of freeing to believe that your own dreams can become reality, and that if you put one foot in front of another, you can create something like you see in other places around you. Well, I like the freedom and independence. I like the ability to be able to create something that really matters to me. And I like the feeling that all the decisions that I make are my decisions and that at the end of the line, I'm the one making the call. But I think that's also my biggest dislike is that when you're running your own business and you're starting your own company, there's nowhere to hide. There's no one else to blame for something that happens. So you really do have to take responsibility for everything that you do. And that can be stressful sometimes.
